About Mulberry Bush

The Mulberry Bush Nursery is situated in rural surroundings on the outskirts of Eye, near Diss and is registered by Ofsted to look after 58 children in any one session.   The buildings have been converted from an old stable block and consist of separate playrooms and activity areas for each age group, babies, toddlers and young children.  We also have 3 sleep rooms, a baby annexe, children’s toilets, large cloakroom, office, staff room, kitchen and separate toilet for adults.

We have a security entrance system whereby you will be given your own unique swipe card to gain entrance to the nursery.

There is a large car park at the front of the building to allow easy and safe drop off and collection of your child/children.

The building has been carefully planned with the children’s needs in mind, with toilets, hand basins and coat pegs all at child height, enabling children to become independent in self-help skills.

There are also various opportunities for outdoor play as the nursery has 3 outside play areas,  The Green’ which is all weather  ‘astro turf, ‘The Playground’ which is a large paved area and ‘The Grass’ which is all grass. All of our outdoor play areas house a wide variety of play equipment, tricycles and ride-on toys.

We also have a sensory garden where the children can grow plants and herbs. We have a fruit and vegetable patch to enable the children to participate in the maintenance and growth of home grown food.

The children are included and encouraged to help look after our pets on a daily basis, we have 2 rabbits, fish and stick insects. We often take the children on local nature walks to explore the wider environment.

The nursery is divided into four groups.  The ‘Baby Buds’ are cared for in their own department up to approximately 15 months of age.  Children entering the nursery between the ages of 18 months and 2 years will be ‘Buds 1’, and from 2 – 3 years of age as ‘Buds 2’.  From the age of 3 onwards the children move into the ‘Berries’. Whilst the children are in the ‘Berries’ they are prepared for school from their 4th birthday by attending the  ‘Sapling’ group sessions where we try to extend their knowledge of phonics, numeracy and general independence in self –care.

We also have a large heated swimming pool which is open from April until October where children from approximately 21/2 years of age are offered the opportunity of swimming lessons by a fully qualified visiting swimming instructor at an extra cost.

The nursery also runs an after school club where by we collect the children from 2 local schools in our own people carrier and bring them back to the nursery for tea and activities. We have a designated member of staff who runs our after school club. There are games and many planned activities, large bean bags to relax on and outside areas for the children to enjoy.

The Mulberry Bush Nursery also runs a Holiday Club for 5 to 11 year olds throughout the Spring, Summer and Autumn school holidays. We plan many activities throughout the holidays including, swimming, golf, cooking, walks out, trips to the Maize Maze, arts and craft, sports races to name a few.
